On February 29, the Pitt County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit arrested Levi Spencer, 55, of 204 Pine Street in Greenville. A drug complaint led to an investigation which began last week.

When arrested at the intersection of Dickinson Avenue and Hooker Road, Spencer possessed 80 dosage units of Oxycodone with a street value of $640.

Spencer’s charges included Level III Trafficking Opium/Heroin; and Maintaining a Vehicle for the Sale of Controlled Substances.

“Prescription drug abuse continues to increase,” stated Sheriff Neil Elks.  “I am hoping that the new law that went into effect today will assist law enforcement agencies in combating  this epidemic.”

Spencer also had two outstanding warrants for Worthless Checks.  He remains in the Pitt County Detention Center under a $201,000 secured bond.
